More Sea Level Rise Photos

With all the great photo galleries on the web, it's sometimes hard to believe that as recently as the 1990s when we needed a photo of a particular place to make a point in a presentation, we would usually have to drop in on a friend or colleague with a good slide collection, hope he or she had organized them well, hold each up to the light, and promise to return it undamaged. Orrin Pilkey and Steve Leatherman were particularly effective because they had great collections of photos, and could dance with them like a true partner. Today we can all develop such a collection with a few hours on the web.

Yet as images proliferate and become available electronically, there is an increasing chance that the photos become unhinged from the context in which they were taken.

This web site provides background information on a number of photos by James G. Titus that have been reprinted with permission by the US Government in specific publications. We make no effort to provide print quality photos here. As far as we know, the only reason you are even at this site is that you came accross one of the photos, which listed this web site as the source. If you are wondering about a particular photo not listed on this web site, please drop us a line and we will add what we can about that photo.
